Your child has pressed submit. What happens now? There may still be documents to send, questions to answer or an offer to accept. A calm weekly check can help your family stay on top of the next step.

At Scenda, we want you and your child to understand what each stage means. Sending information to us is different from submitting an application to an institution.

First, confirm where the application is

Ask these questions together:

  • Have we finished the learner's information and documents?
  • Has the application reached the institution, or is it still being prepared?
  • Do we have an institution reference number or acknowledgement?
  • Is anything still required, including a payment or document?

Keep Scenda updates and institution messages together, but label them clearly. An acknowledgement confirms receipt; it is not an admission offer. If a status is unclear, ask us to explain what has happened and what remains outstanding.

Make a simple weekly check-in

Set aside a short time that works around school and family commitments. Your child can lead the check while you help record the next actions.

Open the relevant institution portals and the learner's email, including spam. Check for new messages, deadlines and missing items. Write down who will act and by when. When an institution gives a short response deadline, act before the next weekly check-in.

Let your child keep control of their account. Do not share passwords or one-time codes with someone claiming to guarantee a place. Agree how you will help them read messages without taking over their private communication.

Read offers before celebrating or paying

An offer may have conditions, such as final results or outstanding documents. Read the full message from the institution and confirm:

  • Whether it is conditional or final.
  • How and when the learner must accept it.
  • Any registration steps and official payment instructions.
  • Whether funding and accommodation require separate action.

An admission offer is not the same as confirmed funding or a room. We recommend keeping a separate record for each so the family knows what is still pending.

Support the learner when there is no answer yet

Waiting can be stressful. Avoid comparing your child's progress with someone else's. Institutions and courses may follow different processes.

Keep alternative choices open where their rules allow it. If the learner is unsuccessful, read the reason before choosing a next step. A different course, another institution or improving subjects may be worth discussing. Our guide to other study routes can help start that conversation.

Your next step

Make one list with an entry for every application: institution, course, reference, latest message, next action and deadline. Keep confirmation messages and receipts with the matching entry.

If you are using Scenda, open your learner dashboard to review your progress, or ask us about an unclear update. Please use the learner's application reference where available; do not send account passwords.
