Questions, answered

What does Scenda do?
Scenda applies for you. You fill in one profile, and your Application Support Specialist completes and submits your applications to South African universities and colleges, NSFAS, bursaries and student accommodation, and keeps you updated.
Do you guarantee I'll get a place or NSFAS funding?
No. Nobody can honestly promise that: every institution and funder makes its own decision. What we do is make sure your applications are complete, correct and in before the closing date.
Isn't applying to NSFAS and universities free?
Applying to NSFAS is free, and some universities charge no application fee. You can apply yourself. You pay Scenda for a trained person to do every application for you, on time, and follow up.
Can my parent or guardian pay?
Yes. From the Payment section you can send your parent or guardian a secure payment link. They pay by card or instant EFT through PayFast, without creating an account.
What if I change my mind?
You can cancel within 7 days of paying for a full refund, unless your specialist has already started work with your agreement. After that, we refund the part of the service not yet used. The Terms of Service explain how.
Does the fee cover University/Tertiary application fees?
No. The R649.90 is Scenda's once-off processing fee for handling your applications. Individual institutions may charge their own application fees, which are separate. We tell you upfront which ones apply.
How long does Scenda take to process my application?
Once you've submitted your details and documents, paid for, your specialist starts applying to every institution that is open. Turnaround at each institution varies, and you can follow the live status of every application from your account.
How is the application processed with the institutions?
An Application Support Specialist is assigned to you. They complete and submit each institution's application for you, using the single set of details and documents you provided to Scenda.
Do I have to wait for institutions to open before applying?
No. You can register and get everything ready with Scenda at any time. We prepare your full application and submit it the moment each institution's intake opens.
Can I still apply even when institutions are closed?
Yes. You can sign up and complete your Scenda form while applications are closed. We hold your ready-to-go application and watch the dates, then submit as soon as each institution reopens.
