Your APS (Admission Point Score) turns your matric results into a single number universities use to decide who they admit.

How it is calculated

Each subject earns points based on your percentage. Most universities count your best six subjects (excluding Life Orientation). A 70–79% typically earns 6 points, 60–69% earns 5, and so on.

Why it matters

Different programmes need different scores — a BCom might need 30, while medicine can need 40+. Knowing your APS tells you exactly which doors are open before you spend on application fees.
